Addie Cleveland "A.C." Bass, Jr., age 84, of Echols County, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Bass was born October 21, 1927 to the late Addie Cleveland (Sr.) and Sallie Ryals Bass. He was never afraid of hard work and thus began his working career at Hercules Powder Company working as a heavy equipment operator before he was a teenager. Later he worked for Atlantic Coastline, he owned and operated five service stations in the Palatka and St. Augustine area and worked for Stuckey's Pecan Shop in Georgetown, Kentucky before retiring. He was a proud Kentucky colonel. Mr. Bass was also a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria "Doby" Bass, a grandson, Robert Bass, Jr., one sister, Jacqueline Green and three brothers, Earl, Laurie and Roger Bass.
Survivors include one son, Robert "Bob" Bass, Echols County, GA.; one daughter, Linda Sue Carpenter (Mike), Green Cove Springs, FL.; two grandsons, Steve and Kevin Darcey; three great granddaughters, Ariel, Phoebe and Kloe; one great-great granddaughter, Autumn.
Memorial services were held Friday, December 16, 2011 at Redland Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Sauls officiating.
Per his wishes Mr. Bass will be cremated.
