Alethia Virginia Horne Williams, age 82, of Jasper, FL. Passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL. Alethia was born March 13, 1931 in Tampa, FL to the late Claude and Ruby Wynn Horne. She was dedicated to making her house a home. She found joy doing all sorts of needlework and crafts, often giving them as treasured gifts to friends and family. She was known for her excellent cooking, especially for her ham and dumplings, the grandchildren's favorite dish of macaroni and cheese and her famous popcorn balls on Halloween. She took time with each of her granddaughters and great granddaughters sharing her cooking tips and recipes and sewing on small projects, to each one a memory that will never be forgotten. She was predeceased by her husband, Jarmon Carlie Williams, two brothers, Russell Horne and Bobby Horne and a granddaughter, Sarah Catherine Allen. Alethia was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. She was a tower of strength and she will be missed by all who had the gift of knowing her.
Survivors include four daughters, Serena Creech (Gerald) Jasper, FL., Gail Allen (Randy) High Springs, FL., Becky Maupin (Timmy) of Arrington, Tennessee and Marcia Daniels (Jack), Tallahassee, FL.; one son, Richard Williams (Juana), Jasper, FL.; one brother, Kermit Horne (Ann); two sisters, Dorothy Horne and Wanda DeSandro and two surviving sisters-in-law, Cecile and Linda; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 17, 2013 in the chapel of T. J. Beggs Jr. & Sons, Madison, FL. Interment followed at Corinth Cemetery in Lee, FL.
