Alice Elizabeth Royals Jones, of Jasper, FL. passed away at her home on October 2, 2022 at the age of 90.
Alice was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County, born on October 24, 1931 to the late Alex and Elizabeth Perkins Royals. She graduated from the old Jasper High School in 1949. Alice began a long-time career in local and county government. She began working at the Sheriff's Office under the late Brock Allen and continued in the Sheriff's Office for the term of the late George Royals. She then worked in the business office of the new Hamilton County Hospital. Alice then began working at the Clerk of the Courts office and served as deputy clerk under the late Thelma Lewis and then the late Bob Miller. Alice decided to run for the Clerk of the Court and was elected in 1977. She served as clerk from 1977-1989. Alice then entered retirement to spend more time with her family and husband. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Billy A. Jones; her daughter, Joni Jones Scarborough; and two sisters, Gladys Shanter and Amelia Royals (Infant).
Survivors include her son, Greg Jones and three grandchildren, Colby McCulley (Heather), Nicole Jones Parrish (Clay), and Chase McCulley; four great grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Jasper First United Methodist Church in Jasper, FL.
Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL.
