Obituary

Amy Mitchell Mayhew, age 61 of Baker, Florida, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, on November 2, 2021.

Amy was born October 2, 1960 at Pineview General Hospital, Valdosta, Georgia, to the late Clinton and Elizabeth "Betty Jane" Mitchell. She, along with her husband Geno, owned and operated "The Gator Cafe" in Baker, Florida.

Amy, the second of four girls, graduated from Hamilton County High School in 1978. She then attended Valdosta State University. Amy spent a part of her life in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico and then returned to Jasper for a short period of time. She later settled in Baker, Florida, after meeting her husband, Geno.

When not assisting Geno managing the cafe, she was either working in her yard, cooking or shopping for treasure finds at estate sales. She had impeccable style and never left her house without looking like a million bucks, much to her sisters' dismay.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Betty Jane Mitchell.

Survivors include her husband, Geno Mayhew; her son, Josh Mayhew: daughters, Gina Mayhew, Leslie, Ashley and Alexandra Sanchez; her three sisters, Cathy Hall, Julie Bedsole and Emily Boswell; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Mitchell Cemetery with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating.
