Anita Jo-Ann Wynn Green, lovingly known as “Jo-Ann,” “Mamaw,” and “Mama,” passed away at her home on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born November 27, 1938, in Hamilton County, Florida, Jo-Ann was the daughter of the late George Wynn and Willie Belle Waters Wynn. Raised on a farm as the second oldest of eleven children, she developed the strong work ethic, determination, and independent spirit that defined her life. She enjoyed playing basketball in high school. At the age of 20, Jo-Ann married Charles Edward Green. Together they built a life and raised their family in Bunnell, Florida.
Jo-Ann spent much of her working life in the restaurant industry. She worked at the Dolphin Restaurant at Marineland, Florida, and The Pier in Flagler Beach, Florida. She later spent numerous years at Archie’s in Lee, Florida, before retiring as a restaurant manager at Jimmie Ragan’s, also in Lee. She took pride in her work and was never afraid to speak her mind.
Jo-Ann was strong-willed, feisty, and unforgettable. She had a way of letting you know exactly what she thought, and her love for family ran deep. Music was a special part of her life. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she enjoyed old country songs in her younger years and grew to love gospel music as her faith deepened. She also played the bass guitar and could walk a bass line like nobody’s business. Her voice, her music, and her spirited personality will be remembered with love.
Jo-Ann was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She also helped raise her granddaughter Kayse from an early age, sharing a bond that remained especially meaningful.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Green; her children, Marsha Grantham, Charles “Chuck” Green Jr., and Michael “Mike” Green; her parents, George Wynn and Willie Belle Waters Wynn; her siblings, Betty Wynn, Mattie Cook, Rachel Austin, Margie Wynn, Jacky Wynn, Ricky Wynn, and Lawrence Wynn; her grandchildren Russell and Kizzi; and her great-granddaughter Joyce.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Roberson, Russell “Rusty” Green, and Charlotte Green; her siblings, Jimmy Wynn, Patricia Taylor, and Elaine Griffis; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Her strength, faith, music, and love will live on in the memories of those who knew her.
