Anna L. Cameron, age 97, of Jennings, Florida passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga. Mrs. Cameron was born on December 26, 1913 in Lesslie, South Carolina to the late James Wiley and Mary Gettys Lesslie. She taught school for a number of years at North Hamilton Elementary and Hamilton County High School. Prior to her teaching career she worked for Dr. Mosley and was widely known for her weekly column reporting the happenings of Jennings and surrounding areas for the Jasper News. Mrs. Cameron was a faithful member of the Jennings United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Livingston Cameron and a granddaughter, Amy Law.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Law and Leslie McCauley, of Valdosta, GA.; three sisters, Jennie Dodds, Chester, S.C., Polly Givens and Lavinia Braswell, both of Columbia, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, C.A. and Mary Lou Cameron, Prosperity, S.C. and sister-in-law, Claudie Cameron, Marietta, Ga.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at Jennings United Methodist Church with Dr. Roger Rollison and Rev. Mike Wright. Interment followed at Sassers Landing Cemetery near Jennings.
