On June 22, 1933 in Hahira, GA. she married Allen Smith Johnson. She lived in numerous towns in Florida including, Miami, Tampa, Lakeland, Orlando, Gainesville and Tallahassee. She and Allen settled in Jennings in 1946 where she raised her four children. Elizabeth worked as a teacher's aide, primarily teaching reading to her young students at Jennings Elementary School. She was an active member of Hebron Primitive Baptist Church for most of her life. Elizabeth was widely known for her knowledge of the history in Hamilton County including many dates, facts and stories involving kinship, family connections and marriages that occurred during her life. She loved her church, music, poetry and "family get-togethers". She enjoyed relating stories to friends, relatives and those seeking information about their families.

Elizabeth was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Hamilton County Memorial Hospital Board. She considered it an honor and a privilege to serve her community in this capacity and remained on the board for many years.
One of her major interests was the love she had for "little children" not only for those in her family but for all of the children in her world. She enjoyed working with plants and flowers and seemed to have a green thumb, a gift that brought her much joy.

Elizabeth was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She could cook and produce fried chicken, vegetables and fresh apple pie that could compete anywhere in the world. Her knowledge, love and presence will be missed.
