Barbara Joan Godwin
March 21, 1935to– February 14, 2025

Barbara Joan Godwin, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving children and family. She was born in Waycross, GA, on March 21, 1935, to Leon "Mack" and Mary Alice McEvans.

A lifelong resident of Statenville, GA, Barbara graduated from Echols County High School and spent her working years bringing joy to others, most notably in her time at the Walmart Deli. She took pride in sharing a smile and a kind word with her customers, making each day a little brighter for those she met.

Barbara had a deep faith in God, and she found comfort and fellowship attending services at the Methodist Church in Statenville. She enjoyed simple pleasures in life—crocheting, watching television, playing cards and Yahtzee with her sister, and cheering on her favorite football team, the Georgia Bulldogs. In earlier years, she was also a devoted supporter of local basketball, never missing a chance to cheer on her sweet boy, Jeff, nor her sweet girl, Pie as they played. She loved a good game and nothing was better than seeing her "baby" play and do good.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jeff Godwin (Maryann) of Lake Park, GA, and Cheryl Godwin of Statenville, GA. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Cheryl "Maxine" Wetherington (Remer) of Valdosta, GA, and Karen T. Spieldenner (Pat) of Lake Park, GA.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Noah Rowan, Jeffery Godwin (Jessica), Skipper Rowan (Amanda), Adrienne Hall, Jeremy Hall (Ashley), and Alyson England (Tommy); her great-grandchildren: Kaley, Abigail, Noah Jr., Haley, Hannah, Jolie, Ella, Jake, Heidi, Carlee, Riley, Ayden, Jolie Ann, and Sonny James; and her great-great-grandchildren, Ruby and Clover.

Barbara is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jeanette Deloach, her brother-in-law, Walter DeLoach, her nephew, Michael DeLoach and her brother-in-law, Remer Wetherington.

Barbara's warmth, faith, and kindness will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Barbara's life will be honored at a graveside service at DeLoach Cemetery, 128 Barney Road, Lake Park, GA 31636 on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Friends are welcome to attend a time of visitation just before the service at 10:30 a.m.
