Barbara Jean Stephens, age 63, Jasper, FL. passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, FL. following a brief illness. Describing an illness as "brief" that began six months ago seems inaccurate, but for the young family being told they have only a few weeks with their mother, grandmother and sister is indeed "brief".

Barbara Jean Stephens was born in Valdosta, Georgia on August 13, 1953 to the late Ellis and Essie Conine Stephens. She was employed by Securus Technologies as an administrative data clerk. Barbara AKA Bobbie was a graduate of Hamilton County High School and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Julian Stephens, Jr.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Kelsey Beck and his wife Anita of Jasper, FL. and Brandon Blair and his wife Heather of Lake City, FL.; one daughter, Sabrina Howell and her husband Eric of Jennings, FL.; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gene Wynn of Jasper; one brother, Grady Mixon of Valdosta, GA.; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment followed in Greenville, FL. at Evergreen Cemetery.
