Barney Jack Newsome, age 75, of Jennings, FL. passed away in Valdosta, GA. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.

Barney was a native of Hamilton County. Upon graduation Barney served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a  mechanic by trade and worked for many years at Occidental/PCS. He was a train and tractor enthusiast. He had numerous train sets and was a regular at the tractor shows. Barney was born into a large family and family meant something to him. He loved his children and his grandchildren very much. He will be missed by all that knew him. Barney was preceded in death by his parents Joda and Lucille Mathis Newsome, a brother, Thomas E. Newsome and a step son, Jamie Padgett.

Survivors include his wife, Earnestine Padgett Newsome; his son, Jody Newsome (Lisa); his daughter, Heather Newsome Morgan (Michael); his step son, Jimmy Padgett (Lora); two brothers, Joda "Bill" Newsome and Danny Newsome; seven sisters, Joann Knight (Paul), Linda Ehlert, Mary Blalock (John), Nell Lynn (Robert), Diana Woodard (Scotty) and Ladonna Wagers (Scott) and Jamie Newsome;  seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Wright's Chapel Methodist Church in Echols County.
