"Ben" Herbert Houston, age 84, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at his home in Jacksonville. Ben was born in Suwannee County and grew up in Live Oak, FL. He enlisted in the Air Force, and as a member of the Special Forces Group, served two tours in Vietnam.  After his time in the Air Force, Ben moved back to the area and found his love, Charlotte Bembry.  Together, they settled in Jasper, FL, where he spent most of his adult life.  Ben worked at Occidental in White Springs, FL as the Machine Safety Coordinator.  His family was his treasure.  Even though Ben spent a lot of time working, he made sure he and his family went on a family vacation each year.  He also looked forward to the Fourth of July, for which he loved watching the fireworks from the beach with his family, as well as celebrating Christmas with them.

Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Bembry Houston of Jasper, FL.  He is survived by his son, Marion James Lamb (Erin), of Castleberry, FL and his daughter, Ida Joy Houston (Thomas) of Jacksonville Beach, FL.

All arrangements are under the direction of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home of Jasper, FL.  A funeral service will be held at Harry T. Ried Funeral Home on Friday, August 25 at 11:00 AM, with a visitation just before at 10:00 AM.
