Bernell McGhee, age 82, of Statenville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. Bernell was born in Freemanville, Alabama on October 15, 1932 to the late Marshall Irbie Digmon and his wife Melissa. She was employed for many years at Levi Strauss in Valdosta, Georgia. Bernell was preceded in death by her husband Burl and children, Preston McGhee, Helen Cumbess and Robert Lee McGhee.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry McGhee, Jasper, FL. and Garland "Pete" McGhee, Statenville, Georgia; one daughter, Dianne Padgett, Needmore, Georgia; one step daughter, Barbara "Bobbie" Pawling, Seattle, Washington; 23 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Per her wishes, Ms. McGhee was cremated.

Memorial services were held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Statenville Church of God.

Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of immediate arrangements.
