Bessie Mitchell Milton passed away on August 2, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL.

She was born in Jasper, FL. on September 29, 1923 to Jessie and Nina Mitchell. Bessie was one of five children and always shared fond memories of growing up on a farm with a family she loved dearly. After Bessie graduated from Florida State College for Women in 1946, she taught in the public- school system for 37 years with most of that time spent at Bayview Elementary School. Bessie was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her son, John Milton, her husband, Robert Milton, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by one son, Glenn Milton (Martha), two grandchildren, Sarah Hartigan (Andrew), John Milton (Victoria), three great grandchildren, and one brother, Dr. William Mitchell.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, FL.
Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
