Obituary

Bettie J. Oxendine, of Jasper, FL. passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL.

Bettie was a longtime resident of Jasper. She was the widow of the late Ray Oxendine. Bettie worked at and retired from Jasper Textile. She was a loving and caring Christian lady and was a faithful member at Bright Pond Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Bettie was always "doing" for others whether it be fixing meals, babysitting or just riding to the doctor or going shopping with a friend for the company. Following an unfortunate accident, Bettie and Ray were blessed to be able to finish raising her siblings, Jimmy, Steve and Sybil. She loved them as her very own and their family was made complete when they joined  birth children Buster and Vanessa . There was always love enough to go around even when the grandchildren and great grandchildren came along. Generation after generation came to know her as "Granny Bettie" and they all knew they were welcome to drop by anytime for a great meal, fun and fellowship. In recent years when her health began to fail, it would have been easy to give up, but as always, God's timing was perfect and along came a great grand child and he became her newest reason to keep fighting. He was her "little buddy", her side kick and he kept her moving. Westyn Rhett Hill, you were Granny's world to the very end but just like always, Granny Bettie loved them all equally, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and even neighborhood children, yes....she loved them all. Bettie was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her siblings, Donald Cutts, Dorothy Daniels and Trudy Hunter and most recently, grandson, Doodle Tucker.

Survivors include her children by birth, Buster Oxendine (BaDonna) and Vanessa Hill (Buddy); her bonus children, Jimmy Livingston (Debbie), Steve Livingston (Rhonda) and Sybil Tucker; her sister, Rose Anne Wallace; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
