Betty Jean Allen Morgan, age 81, of Live Oak, FL. passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Shands Hospital in Live Oak , FL. Betty Jean was born in Madison County, FL. at what is known to many as the old "Drew Mansion" where her family lived at the time. She was born on February 18, 1934 to the late Bryant Joshua and Annie Green Allen. As a young woman she became a military wife and mother to three sons. She and her little family lived in Japan for several years before moving back and retiring in Mayport, FL. after many years in the service. Betty Jean lived a long and full life. She waitressed for many years and enjoyed every minute of it. Later she could be found at Walmart enjoying visits from friends and family while she worked. Betty Jean loved her family and was a dedicated wife, sister and mother to her sons. As her health declined she had to slow down but never gave up. Betty Jean was preceded in death by two sisters, Letha Gaston and Myrtie Morgan and four brothers, Willie Allen, Earl Allen, Bryant Joshua Allen "Jr.", and Israel James "I.J." Allen.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Morgan, Live Oak, FL.; three sons, Ricky Parson, Valdosta, GA., Lance Parson, Quitman, GA., and Michael Parson and his wife Jacqueline of Hampstead, New Hampshire; one brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Virginia Allen, Madison, FL.; one sister and brother-in-law, Annie Laura and Tom Futch, Macclenny, FL.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Allen, Jasper, FL. and Nancy Allen, Live Oak, FL.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Corinth Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. with interment in the church cemetery.
Corinth was home to Betty Jean and her deepest desire was to be buried alongside her family in the church cemetery that held so many memories.
