Beulah Rae Lashley, of Jasper, FL. passed away peacefully at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper at the age of ninety four. Beulah Rae, better known to her family and friends as "Boots" was a native of Hamilton County. She was born on September 5, 1920 to the late Bertis Monroe and Molly Irene Sumner Smith. When her children were middle school age she decided to join the public workforce. She worked at Johnson's Meat Market, Mike's IGA and later at Jasper Foodway before finally retiring. Boots was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Lashley in September of 2006. After finding it difficult to run a household by herself, she moved to the Jacksonville area to be closer to her daughters. She made new friends and did so enjoy being close to her girls but she always longed to be back home in Jasper. In December of 2014 she was able to make the transition back to Hamilton County and made her home at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center.
In addition to her husband, Boots was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Loveda Hall, Jessie Goolsby, Sadie Smith, Jewell Bembry, Larry Smith and Lonnie Smith. Mrs. Lashley was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include her two daughters, Marian Lashley of Jacksonville, FL. and Marsha Eason and her husband Hugh of Fernandina Beach, FL.; one brother, Maurice Smith, Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, Scott Lashley, Allen Eason and Jaime Eason; three great grandchildren, Logan Eason, Ashley Eason and Savannah Grace Eason.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Jasper with Dr. Jimmy Deas officiating.
Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
