Brooks Eugene Culpepper, age 71, of Echols County, Georgia passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness. Brooks was a native and lifelong resident of Echols County born on the farm where he lived all of his life. He was the son of James Euell and Cuba Kinsey Culpepper. Brooks received his Master's Degree in Education from the University of Georgia. He had a passion for teaching and did so since 1967 in Echols, Tift, Clinch, Duval, Baker, Leon and Hamilton Counties. He taught childhood education, junior high and high school education. In addition to teaching he served as assistant principal and principal at different times during his lengthy career. He had another passion and that was farming. He took over operation of the family farm in 1953 growing corn and hay and raising beef cattle. He was a member of the Church of God. Mr. Culpepper was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Luverne C. Wheeler.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Faye Law Culpepper; three sons, Jim Culpepper (Naomi), Gene Culpepper (Tammy) and Ben Culpepper (Jennifer); one daughter, Jerri Sasser (Barry); one brother, Vernon Culpepper; three sisters, Nell C. Hughes (Lavaughn), Elaine C. Henderson (W.R.) all of Echols County, and Sandy Rentz (Jim), Lake Park, GA.; brother-in-law, Lloyd Wheeler, Echols County; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Lake Park Church of God in Lake Park, GA. Interment were at Kinsey Cemetery in Echols County.
