Carlton Broward Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on April 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 3, 1940, to Arthur and Carrie Brown in Jasper, FL.
A member of Divonia Baptist Church in Jasper, FL, Carlton lived a life dedicated to his faith, family, and community. He cherished his time spent with his adoring wife, Margie, whom he shared countless memories and adventures with. Together, they exemplified love and partnership, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Carlton had a passion for gardening and found peace and contentment in tending to his yard, vegetable garden, and flowers. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved cat, whom he rescued as a kitten and cherished as a loyal companion.
Family meant everything to Carlton, and he was known for his unwavering love and support. He took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, showering them with affection and wisdom. His selflessness knew no bounds, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
In addition to his devotion to family and community, Carlton dedicated over 40 years of his life to PCS Phosphate (Nutrien), where his hard work and dedication made a lasting impact. He also played an integral role in supporting his wife, Margie Brown, in her shop, Brown's Flowers and Gifts, for over 30 years.
Carlton is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Margie Brown; his loving sons, John Randall "Randy" Brown (Rhonda Hunter Brown) of Lake City, FL, and Eddie Brown (Lorrie) of Lake Park, GA; his dear brother, A.J. Brown of Lake City, FL; his cherished grandchildren: Kendall Ray Brown, Kelsie Highsmith (Ryan), Brandon Fraser (Mallory), Courtney Meeks (Kyle), and Aundrea Rice (Patrick); and his adored great-grandchildren: Sawyer Meeks, Ryder Highsmith, Kollins Highsmith, and Sutton Meeks. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lucille Brown.
A funeral service will be held to honor Carlton's life at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL, on Friday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 4th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL.
