Carolyn Raines Shaw, age 76, of Jasper, FL. passed away at her home on March 12, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Carolyn was born on December 18, 1946 to the late Leon and Theaster Mathis Raines. The family lived in Live Oak and Madison for a time but Carolyn made her way to Hamilton County and in April of 1966 in her early twenties, she went to work for the Hamilton County School System. She was hired by then, Superintendent Harry T. Reid and served under a number of superintendents over the next 54 years of service to the school system. At the urging of her family, she finally retired in September of 2022. She didn't go kicking and screaming but her love for her school and students and absolute dedication kept her thinking, she just might go back anytime. Unfortunately illness set in soon after retirement and her quality of life declined. That said, she was still in the stands at ballgames and events for her grandchildren just as long as her health permitted, just as she had always done with her three children. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband James in June of 2015. The two shared 37 years together and she counted herself so very fortunate to have enjoyed the many years of ballgames, camping, clogging, and racing with him, her children and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Bruce Driggers (Erin) of Jasper, FL. and Phillip Allen Shaw (Cindy) of Monroe, LA; her bonus son, Anthony Claridy of Greenville, TN; her daughter, Amanda Shaw (Bobby Eason) of Jasper, FL.; her brother, Carroll Raines of Lake City, FL.; her two sisters, Martha Wadell (Tom) of Madison, FL. and Debra Raines of Valdosta, GA.; four grandchildren, Caycee Shaw, Zachary Shaw, Bradley Driggers and Bailey Driggers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Divonia Baptist Church.
