Cathy J. Merritt, age 62, of White Springs, Florida, passed away on December 31, 2018 at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City following an extended illness.

Cathy was born on December 26, 1956, in Florala, Alabama to Thomas Olin and Louise Cain Merritt. She was a longtime resident of Wauchula, Florida and recently moved to White Springs, Florida. She was a diehard Gator fan and was a big jokester who loved to cut up and make people laugh. She would give the shirt off her back to the people she cared about. She was a true red head in every sense of the word and was loved by many.

She was predeceased in death by her mother, Louise Cain Merritt, her sister, Debra Merritt, her Aunt Exie McCranie and her Uncle Robert Merritt.
She is survived by her father, Thomas Olin Merritt, Baker, FL, son, Tony Garrett, Baker, FL, special friends whom she considered her son and daughter in law, Ryan and Susan Weirich, White Springs, FL, uncle, Richard Merritt, special friends, Eric Ham and Misty Dubose, sister, Stella Brown, Aunts Elsie Tate and Louise Anglin, several nephews and cousins.

There will be no formal services at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
