Charles F. Brantley, Sr., age 85, of Adel, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia following a brief illness.
Charles was a native of Jennings, FL. born on July 25, 1933 to the late Marcus and Arbena Pittman Brantley. As a young man he served his country in the United States Army. Later Charles would make his way back to Hamilton County to Occidental/PCS where he worked for 33 years before retiring and moving to Maggie Valley, North Carolina. He loved the mountains and enjoyed his three-mile hikes. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to music and playing the guitar as well as hunting and fishing. As the years passed though Charles decided that he and Wanda needed to move back closer to family and they made Adel their home.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Wanda Abbott Brantley; his son, Charles F. Brantley, Jr.; his step-son, Jeff Bristol (Sarah); one brother, Bill Brantley; three sisters, Katherine Lee, Barbara Parks and Delores Green; one grandson, Charles F. Brantley, III "Tre`" and one step-granddaughter, Maegan Bristol.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 18, 2019 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Trent Abbott officiating.
Interment followed at Sassers Landing Cemetery near Jennings, FL.
