August 23, 1947 – July 16, 2019
Charles Earl Deas, age 71, of Jasper, FL. passed away with his sisters by his bedside on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Lake City Medical Center in Lake City, FL. Charles was a native and lifelong resident of Hamilton County. Charles was quite brilliant in school and had no trouble breezing through. He graduated from North FL. Junior College and later attended Valdosta State University. He was exceptional in math and was able to help his nieces and nephews through their formative years in school with their simple math and algebra. Charles loved his family and his extended family. He served as the family historian and spent many hours working on genealogy. His hobbies included playing chess, watching the Gators and he was an avid reader. Charles loved his Lord and he studied the bible with great intensity. He was a faithful member of West Lake Church of God and attended as often as he was able. He believed in discipleship and was obedient in his witness outreach. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Mary Sowell Deas and his brother-in-law, Hollie McDonald.
Survivors include his three sisters, Grace McDonald and Ruth McCain (Larry), all of Jennings, FL. and Laurel Mahaffey (Vance) of West Union, S.C.; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at West Lake Church of God with Pastor Cynthia Moseley and Rev. Ralph Dillard officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
