Mr. Charles "Charlie" L. Floyd, Jr., age 87, of White Springs, FL. passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008 at his home following an illness of some time. Mr. Floyd was born in Willie, Georgia. He was the owner and operator of Charlie Floyd Commercial Refrigeration Company in Jacksonville, FL. until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Floyd was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 8095. He was a Master Mason at Lodge No. 159 in Jacksonville for 62 years and was a former deacon and member of the First Baptist Church in White Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Floyd of White Springs; two daughters, Charleen Bembry (Dr. Irvin C.) and Martha Fultz (Chuck), all of Jasper, FL.; two brothers, Carroll Floyd, Savannah, GA. and Metzgar Floyd, Rome, GA.; one sister, Betty Stone, Jacksonville, FL.; seven grandchildren, Caroline Cronin (Patrick), Emily Bembry, Katie Platto (Matt), Sarah Davis (Mike), Megan Smith (Lucas), Jacob Fultz and Jonathan Fultz; two great grandchildren, Mason and Avery Platto.
Graveside services with military honors were held Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Riverside Cemetery in White Springs, FL. with Rev. John Harrison officiating.
