Charles "Richard" Gibson, age 79, of Jasper, FL. passed away early Sunday morning, February 10, 2013 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper following an extended illness. Richard was born at Medart, Florida in Wakulla County on October 21, 1933 to the late R.H. and Jonnie Cornelia Tully Gibson. As a young man he served in the United States Air Force. With a degree in Business, Richard was able to secure work in Program Management with many large firms all over the country. He was a highly experienced electronics technician and put that to work in his own company Gibson Electronics locally. When Hamilton Correctional came to Jasper he took an instructor position, teaching computer education and helping inmates prepare to take the GED. In addition to his career, Richard put a great deal of time into being a leader at First Baptist Church where he was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher and Deacon and where he was known for his beautiful soloist voice. With God first in his life Richard could focus on being a good husband and provider. He believed in the institution of marriage and spent the last 59 plus years with his wife and best friend, Barbara Herndon Gibson. Sadly, Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Gibson in September of 1984 and his only son, Keith Alan Gibson in January of 1991.

Survivors include his wife Barbara of Jasper; one brother, Denson Gibson and his wife Patricia of Orlando, FL. and a sister, Harriet Gibson Eudy and her husband Sherrell of Live Oak, FL.; his extended family included several sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws that he was very close to; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews, all of whom he loved.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating.
