Obituary

Charles "Chundy" Goolsby, age 76, of Hamilton County, passed away on May 10, 2024. Born on October 5, 1947, in Valdosta, GA, he was the son of Charles and Helen Goolsby.

Chundy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force immediately after graduating from high school. He completed his training in Rapid City, South Dakota, and served honorably for four years. Upon completing his military service, Chundy returned to Hamilton County where he dedicated many years to the Hamilton County School Board in Transportation and Maintenance, from which he eventually retired.

Chundy was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County, cherishing his roots and the community. Known for his dedication to his family and work, Chundy leaves behind a legacy of integrity and service.

He is survived by his sister, Ann McDaniel and her husband Randy; his nephews, Gene McDaniel and Ronald McDaniel; his great-nephews, Augustus McDaniel and Wyatt McDaniel; and a host of cousins who will miss him dearly.

In honor of Chundy's life, a funeral service will take place at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, in Jasper, Florida, Tuesday, May 14th at 2 p.m. with a visitation just before the service at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Fund.
