Marvin Ocain, Jr.
April 4, 1971 – March 9, 2022
Char O'Cain passed away peacefully into the hands of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of Wednesday, March 9, 2022. He was 50 years old. Born in Valdosta, GA on April 4, 1971, Char grew up in Jasper, FL and graduated from Hamilton County High School in 1989. There, he was extremely involved in athletics and excelled at football and baseball. Char went on to earn an Associate's Degree from North Florida Junior College and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology from Florida State University in 1997. Char lastly earned a Master of Arts and Teaching Degree from Georgia College and State University in 2007.
In his younger years, Char pursued a career in several different avenues of law enforcement, including working for Hamilton Correctional Institution in Jasper, FL, Leon County Sheriff's Office in Tallahassee, FL, the White Family Foundation and Florida Department of Children and Families in Jacksonville, FL. In 2003, Char chose to pursue a job in education and worked at Weaver Middle School in Bibb County, GA. For a total of 17 years, he enjoyed teaching and often coached girls' soccer, softball and baseball. Char eventually moved on to teach at Fort Valley Middle School from where he retired.
Char loved woodworking, fishing and cooking in his free time, but coaching and following his daughters throughout their soccer and softball careers brought him the greatest joy. He also enjoyed serving as a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Jasper, FL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. O'Cain, Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 27 years, Amy O'Cain and daughters, Caroline Morgan O'Cain and Emma Marie O'Cain, all of Warner Robins; mother, Carole M. O'Cain of Jasper, FL; brothers, Woodrow M. O'Cain (Stephenie) of Fleming Island, FL and Jim Cassin O'Cain (Ashley) of Jacksonville, FL; two nieces; and two nephews. Also surviving are Char's in-laws, Curtis and Linda Wetherington of Jennings, FL.
A service was held in Warner Robins before
Harry T. Reid Funeral Home brought Char home to Hamilton County where he
was laid to rest on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at West Lake Church of God Cemetery. Pastor Timmy Dyke officiated the service.
