Charles Harrison Norris Jr.
March 2, 1944 – November 13, 2025
Charles Harrison Norris Jr., born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Charles Norris Sr. and Jean Norris, lived a life defined by service, devotion, and love. A proud Army veteran, he bravely served for three years, including time in the Vietnam War and a tour in Korea. On April 24, 1981, Charles married the love of his life, Julia Ann, and together they shared 44 wonderful years filled with laughter, companionship, and cherished memories.
Charles had a generous and curious spirit. He loved bowling—once coming within a pin of perfection with a 299 game—tending the yard, exploring technology, playing chess, and delighting in giant Christmas décor. Peanut butter and chocolate were his favorites, and he was well-known for cracking jokes that brought joy to those around him. One of his greatest joys was his loyal black seeing-eye dog, Harvey, who remained faithfully by his side. Charles also treasured beach getaways with his bride, especially their special trips to the Perry Hotel in Daytona Beach.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Ann; his children Gerrie Jean Norris, Ria Gaines (Wayne), Traci Slanker (Keith), and Troy Crews (Rhonda); and his grandchildren TJ Norris (Tina), Tabitha Jean, Melinda Edwards (Justin), Shelly Porter (Bryan), Dustin Crews (Kendra), Kirsten Edwards (Chris), Taylor Hires, and Brooklynn Shay (Garrett). Charles is further survived by his special niece, Susan Mears (Ron).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jean Norris; his son, Patrick Norris; and his sister, Pat Quinn.
The family extends special thanks to Chris Maas and family, as well as the On Point Nursing caregivers, who supported them with compassion throughout Charles's long-term illness.
