C.L. Smith of Jennings, FL. passed away at his home on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the age of 82.

C.L. was born in Walton County, FL. and was a long-haul truck driver for many years. As he aged, he decided to stay a little closer to home and finished out his career as a truck driver hauling logs in neighboring Lowndes County.

C.L. WAS NOT your typical North Florida boy that desired to be in the woods hunting or on the river, he rather be out on the open road with the wind in his face on his motorcycle. He was a man of few words and he and his bike communicated with each other just fine. It comes as no surprise but should be said, that C.L. Smith loved three women in his lifetime and that would be, his beautiful wife of 54 years, Rhonda Beaty Smith, the little blond girl that had him wrapped around her finger, daughter Tina Smith Bennett and his beloved mother, the late Mary Lou Smith Ard.

In addition to his wife Rhonda and daughter Tina, C.L. is survived by his handsome grandson, Daniel Cross Bennett; his brother, James Samuel Smith and his wife Margaret; his sister, Sue Haddock and her husband Milton; numerous nieces and nephews. C.L. was preceded in death by his half- brother, Joe Ard.

Graveside services were held on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Sassers Landing Cemetery near Jennings.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Jennings, FL.
