Mr. Claude M. Phillips, age 87, of Jennings, FL. passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Lake City, Florida following an illness of some time. Mr. Phillips was born in Quitman, Georgia on January 24, 1926 to the late Claude D. and Marie Melton Phillips. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served and flew numerous delicate missions during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the Navy, Claude and a close friend formed their own Air Transport Company which he operated for a number of years. Late in life, he decided to settle down in Jennings where he managed a small service station near I-75.


Survivors include one son, Jerome Phillips of Valdosta, Georgia and two grandchildren.

Per his request, Mr. Phillips will be cremated.

Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
