Clinton S. Mitchell, age 75, of Jasper, FL. passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL. following an extended illness. The Mitchell family was one of Hamilton Counties Pioneer families. Clinton was born on June 15, 1934 to the late Joseph and Mabel Buckels Mitchell. The lifelong resident served two terms on the Hamilton County School Board and was a well-known successful tobacco and tree farmer. He loved to work in the garden and loved fishing. Clinton was a member and former Sunday School Superintendent at the First Presbyterian Church in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth "B.J." Mitchell, Jasper, FL.; four daughters, Cathy Hall (Jay), Jasper, FL., Amy Mayhew (Gino), Baker, FL., Julie Bedsole (Jaye), Jasper, FL. and Emily Boswell (Brown), Destin, FL.; three sisters, Alphia Jo McMahon (Jack), Dowling Park, FL., Abbie Jean Wicker, Jasper, FL. and Estelle Reistad (Knut), Jasper, FL.; seven granddaughters, Leslie, Beth, Ashley, Erin (Mike), Alexandria, Sunni and Gina; one grandson, Josh; and one great grandson, Matthew.
Graveside services were held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Mitchell Cemetery.
