Obituary

Corbett Lamar Dees, age 82, of Oxford, GA., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his closest loved ones.

Lamar grew up in Jasper, Florida, the son of Corbett and Eunie Dees and brother of Margie Dees Patterson. Lamar grew up working hard on his father's farm. It was there he developed an impeccable work ethic and high ambitions that he would follow for the rest of his life. He graduated from Jennings High School in 1958. He enlisted in the Army and served for four years. He was stationed in Korea and Germany where he became a sergeant and served as a cryptographer. After serving in the Army, Lamar worked his way through college, while raising his newborn son Mike, and earned his Bachelors Degree in Management from Georgia State University. He graduated and started his business career in Atlanta where he became a successful executive in the kitchen cabinet industry.

Lamar touched the lives of many people over the course of his life and career. Many people that worked with or for him over his five-decade career came by to visit him in his last days to express to him how much they appreciated what he had done for them, what a huge impact he had in their lives and how much they loved him. The outpouring of love was very gratifying to him in his final days.

Lamar is survived by his wife and love of his life Shirley Dees, his sister, Margie Dees Patterson, his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Carolyn Dees, and his two wonderful grandchildren, Michael and Bailey Dees.

Services to honor Lamar were held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church in Jennings, Florida. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors.
