Curtis Lavell
Morgan
October 28, 1951 – September 10, 2022
Curtis "Lavell" Morgan, age 70, of Live Oak, FL. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at North Florida Regional Medical Center, in Gainesville.
Lavell was a native and longtime resident of Hamilton County, FL. He was born in Jasper on October 28, 1951 to the late Curtis and Cubie Thomas Morgan. Lavell was raised in the country with a large family and a ton of neighborhood boys to pal around with. He worked in the tobacco fields and through the long hot summers like all kids did during that era but not all of them had the luxury of living less than a half mile from one of the most popular springs (Adams Springs) in North Florida and South Georgia. Lavell was a graduate of Hamilton County High School and went on to North Florida Jr. College where he earned an AA Degree. He served his country in the United States Army and had a longtime career with Windstream. Following his retirement he did some part-time roofing, did a little fishing and enjoyed a day or two at the golf course. Lavell was married to the love of his life Patricia "Patsy" Cowart from Madison County and the two shared 46 years together. He was a dedicated husband and daddy to his children Mandy and Zach and was a longtime member of Corinth Baptist Church in Jasper. Lavell was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sherryl Morgan, Tela Morgan, Margaret Sineath and Sandra Jerrells.
Survivors include his wife Patsy; his daughter, Amanda Morgan and his son Zach Morgan, both of Live Oak, FL.; his sister, Janet Peeler (W.H.) of Lake City, FL.; his brother, Virgil Morgan (Edith), of Live Oak, FL.; his friend and former son-in-law, Jason Carroll (Melissa) of Live Oak, FL.; the ones who called him "Pops and Papa" grandchildren, Aspen Carroll (Leslie Ann), Savanna Carroll and Kamdyn Carroll and his great grandchildren, Elsie Kate and Wrenley Laine Carroll.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Abbott officiating.
Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. was in charge of arrangements.
