Daisy L. DeRocco, age 80, of Jasper, FL. passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Madison County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Daisy was a native of New York, born on October 21, 1937 to the late Leon and Ina Leitz Cooper. She grew up on a dairy farm and new the meaning of hard work. Once she got up old enough to work away from home she went to work as a shoemaker and later advanced her education and worked for many years as an Licensed Practical Nurse in the home health arena. Daisy was married to Frederick L. DeRocco and together they raised seven children. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. The family moved to Jasper from Immokalee in 1989. She was co-owner and operator of Circle D Variety Store on SR 6 West for many years . She was a member of Burnham Christian Church and attended as long as her health permitted. Daisy was preceded in death by Frederick in April of 2014.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Laddie and Robin DeRocco of Valdosta, GA., Adam and Susan DeRocco of Jasper, FL. and Frederick DeRocco Jr. and Bethany of Jacksonville, FL.; her four daughters and son-in-law, Ranie DeRocco, Jasper, FL., Laurie Padgett, Lake City, FL., Sheila and Brian Young, Lehigh Acres, Fl. and Kathy Carlisle of Live Oak, FL.; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. with her grandson, Pastor Laddie DeRocco officiating.
Following the service Ms. DeRocco was cremated per her wishes.
