Obituary
Daniel Dewey Gaines, Jr., age 78, of White Springs, FL. passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL. following an illness of some time. Mr. Gaines was a native and former resident of Rowan County, North Carolina. Early on in his career he was an independent truck driver. After retiring from working out on the road, he went to work for Hillendale Farms as a maintenance supervisor. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents Daniel D. and Cora Lee Mabe Gaines, a son, Robin Gaines, five brothers, one sister and a step-son, Michael Tomlinson.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Betty Gaines; three sons, Danny Gaines (Kaye) and Jody Gaines, all of Salisbury, N.C., Christopher Gaines, Hamilton, Ohio; one daughter, Amy O'neal, Suwannee County, FL.; three step-sons, Malcolm "Bubba" Tomlinson, Roger Tomlinson (Mary Ann) and Ronnie Tomlinson, all of White Springs, FL.; one sister, Frances Black, Landis, N.C.; 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 9 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great grandchildren, 1 step great great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held Monday, February 2, 2015 at Riverside Cemetery in White Springs, FL.
