Obituary

Dewey Allen Cribbs, of Jasper, FL passed away on May 3, 2023 at his home following a brief illness.

Allen celebrated his 72 nd birthday on March 13. The Homerville, GA born boy was the son of the late Isham Dewey Cribbs and Sarah Mae Cribbs. He was a heavy equipment operator at Occidental/PCS/Nutrien most all of his adult life. In his spare time, he was one heck of a mechanic and loved building engines and taking cars to the racetracks on Saturday night. Allen and his little family operated like a well-oiled machine. He and Little Allen worked like a surgical team with tools being passed one to the other before it was ever requested, while Wayne and Wesley Jane maneuvered the rest of the business that needed tending to without a word having to ever pass between them. There was the annual birthday bash until Covid interrupted, but oh my, the memories of the times spent with friends and family on those special occasions are priceless. Fishing always ran a close second, third and forth based on Allen's shift and whether or not there was a race to go to but fishing was ALWAYS on the list of things to do. December 3 rd marked 51 years that Allen and Wesley Jane shared together, doing the things that a husband and wife do to survive this life. They lived, they laughed and they loved but mostly they worked. At the end of the day…. if the fact that he worked hard was the main message…one would have to say…THAT WAS A GOOD MAN. Allen will be remembered as a man that worked and he was indeed a good man.

Survivors include his wife, Wesley Jane Webb Cribbs of Jasper; his two sons, Little Allen and Wayne Cribbs both of Jasper; his two brothers, Lamar Cribbs (Karen) Keaton Beach, FL. and James Cribbs (Wanda) of Jennings, FL.; his sister, Ima Jean Knowles of Fargo, GA.; Allen was also blessed to have a bonus son, Scott Butts, a faithful sister-in-law, Ruth Cribbs and a special caretaker, Mary Manac in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The outpouring of love has already been so great, the family request that food not be wasted on them as they are blessed with more than they can eat now.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Hebron Cemetery Fund C/O 2645 Glenhaven Dr., Green Cove Springs, FL. 32043.
