Obituary

Donald Wayne Lewis, age 71, of Jennings, Florida passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 9, 2012 at his home. Wayne was born in Jennings, FL. on February 25, 1941 to the late James Darrell Lewis and Mrs. Eddie Johns Lewis. He was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County and graduated from Jennings High School. In 1966 he married Eula Starling and started his family. Wayne retired from Occidental Chemical Company (PCS). He continued to work hard around the farm as long as he was able. He loved Go-Kart racing and the fellowship that came with it. He was a man with a big tough exterior and while he could be tough when he needed to be, he is remembered for having a big heart and a gentle spirit as well. He had a way with people and put that gift to work helping others without making them feel needy. He was respected in his community and will be missed by all that knew him. Wayne was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Rogers.

Survivors include his wife, Eula Lewis; his son, Donnie Lewis and his daughter-in-law, Rhonda; his daughter, Karen Lewis; a brother, John Lewis, all of Jennings, FL.; grandson, D.W. Lewis and a granddaughter, Tayler Lewis.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, FL. with Rev. Timmy Dyke officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery near Jennings.
