Doris Hammond, 63, of Jasper, FL. passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in White Springs, FL. following an extended illness. Doris was born on April 5, 1950 in Jasper, FL. to Johnnie and Stella Hurst (Plymel), weighing in at 14 lbs. She worked at Jasper Textile for many years. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Hammond, two sons, Michael and Lamar Hammond, her brother Gene Duncan, two sisters, Ethel and Avis, a granddaughter, Chelsea Hester and a great grandson, Derek Webber. With all of the loss in her life, she still felt blessed to have the family and friends God blessed her with. On Tuesday morning she was surrounded by the love of her family, Regina, Leonda, Bobby and nephew Neal when she went on to join her loved ones in heaven.

Survivors include two daughters, Regina Hester (Bobby) of White Springs, FL. and Leonda Thomason, Spring Hill, Tennessee; one brother, R.N. Duncan, Satsuma, FL.; one sister, Hazel Rowland, Ocala, FL.; 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 20, 2013 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Jerry Thomason officiating.

Interment followed at Hebron Cemetery near Jasper.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
