Obituary

Doris Alethia Williams Stormant, passed away on October 17, 2022 in Lake City, FL at the age of 102.

Doris grew up on a farm in southern Columbia County. She attended school at Mason City School and visited White Springs, FL. for the first time as a participant in a basketball game while representing Mason City High School. Sometime later, Doris visited her sister Lois, who was living in northern Columbia County and it just happened that she caught the eye of a young man by the name of E.V. Stormant who was delivering mail at the time. Now, it was not by happenstance but by the Grace of God, that E. V. spotted Doris and arranged an introduction via a friend which was not un-common at the time since cell phones were unheard of in the day. The two married in 1939 and that marriage lasted for an amazing 73 years. The two made their home in White Springs where they raised their six children. Doris was preceded in death by E.V. in 2012. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Patricia Cox and grandson, Jason Harrell.

Doris was a devoted wife and mother. She was instrumental in her children's education. She and E.V. were obedient and were faithful in raising their children in the way that they should go. Their spiritual education equaled in importance to that of their education in the classroom. The two raised their children in the church and were longtime members at Long Branch Congregational Methodist Church.

Doris was a gifted seamstress and a magnificent cook which was invaluable during that time. She managed the household while working alongside her husband, E.V. on their farm and for some time, worked at metal products in Lake City, FL. She was the helpmate and partner that God had directed into the path of E.V. Stormant and he was the better for it.

Survivors include their three sons and their wives, Ted Stormant (Phyllis), John Stormant (Susan) and Charlie Stormant (Donna); their two daughters, Linda Tomlinson and Judith Harrell; her two brothers, John Harold Williams and Sidney S. Williams; 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 26 great great-grandchildren.
