Obituary

Dorothy Carter Hill, age 90, of Jasper, FL. passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at her home following an illness of some time.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating.

Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.

Ms. Hill was born on April 21, 1923 in Echols County, Georgia to the late William and Neta Carter. Upon graduation from high school, Dorothy attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee and graduated with a Degree in Education from Valdosta State College. She taught elementary education for almost 30 years in Hamilton County. During her career she coached girl's basketball and invested in the lives of many young children until her retirement in 1992. She was a faithful member at First Baptist Church in Jasper until her health prohibited her attendance. Ms. Hill was predeceased by her husband, Billy Wayde Hill, her daughter, Claire Hill Stewart, parents, William and Neta Carter and two brothers, William Carter Jr. and Herbert Carter.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Hill, Lake Park, GA.; one brother, Fred Carter, Sylvester, GA.; one sister, Doris Bassett, Gretna, FL.; three grandchildren, Tory Harris (Beth), Tara Harris Phelps (Heath) and Tate Harris (Victoria); one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Claire Harris.
