Obituary

Elizabeth Caroline Avriett Burnham Barrett, age 101, of Jasper, FL. passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Shands at Live Oak Hospital in Live Oak, FL. just four days past her 101st birthday. Elizabeth was born on March 6, 1913 in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Clayton A. and Carrie Mae Lundy Avriett. She was educated in the Hamilton County School System and with that education went on to work in both the Florida and Georgia State Legislature. Elizabeth was extremely dedicated to the work of the Democratic Party in Florida. She was not only politically inclined but was also a successful owner/operator of Southern Foam Products. She was also known to put a hook in the water on a regular basis in the ponds and rivers in the community. Elizabeth was a faithful member of Jasper First United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her parents, her two husbands, Lawrence Burnham and James "Jack" Barrett, a sister whom she adored, Juanita A. Small, her daughter, Barbara "Babs" Auman and a granddaughter, Patti Neely.

Survivors include one son, Lawrence "Larry" Clayton Burnham (Annette), of Lake City, FL.; three daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Burnham Conner (Frank), Sanderson, FL., Nora Elizabeth "Kitty" Morgan (Bobby), Jasper, FL. and Elaine Floyd (Robert), Bluffton, S.C.; a son-in-law, William "Bill" Auman, Jasper, FL.; 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held  Friday, March 14, 2014 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
