Elouise Kathryn Monsalvatge Felknor, 78, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026.
Elouise was born on September 6, 1948, in Key West, Florida, to William and Eleanor Hannmann Monsalvatge. As a young girl, her family moved to Avon Park, Florida, where she eventually met and married Thomas Felknor. Together, they moved to Live Oak in 1980, where they raised their three children and made their home.
Elouise devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and raising her family. She also worked as a school teacher for a time. One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother, and she remained a loving and involved presence in the lives of her grandchildren.
Elouise was creative and loved crafting, even operating a small craft business for a time. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds, traveling with her family, and visiting some of her favorite places, including Key West and the North Georgia mountains.
A lifelong Episcopalian, Elouise was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Live Oak, where she also taught Sunday school for a time. Her faith, family, and home remained important to her throughout her life.
Elouise was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eleanor Hannmann Monsalvatge.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Felknor; her children, Lisa Boyd (Charles), Ryan Felknor (Sherri), and Julie Skeen (Brock); her grandchildren, Maggie Boyd, Katelyn Skeen, Audrey Felknor, Macy Skeen, Andrew Felknor, and Abigail Felknor; her brother, Billy Monsalvatge (Teresa); her sister-in-law, Alice Taylor (Mike); her brother-in-law, Dennis Felknor (Lynne); and many other family members and friends.
Elouise and Tom shared a remarkable life together that began when they met at a baseball game when Elouise was just 14 years old. That day Tom gave her a piece of gum and Elouise saved the wrapper for the rest of her life. Nearly 60 years of marriage, three children, six grandchildren, and a lifetime together grew from that first meeting.
Elouise will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her creativity, her faith, and the love she gave to those around her. Her greatest legacy is the family she loved and the life she and Tom built together.
A graveside service will be held at the Live Oak City Cemetery on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 3:00pm, officiated by Father Ken Johnstone.. Arrangements are being handled by Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, Florida.
The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Tom and Elouise’s caregivers, to Penny West, ARNP, and to the staff of VITAS Healthcare for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care they provided to both Tom and Elouise, and for the support they gave their family throughout their time of need.
A life well loved does not end. It lives on in the hearts it shaped, the memories it created, and the love it leaves behind.
