Emily Jo Coe, age 85, of Jasper, FL. passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.
Most people in the community knew her as "Jo Coe", others knew her as "Mr. Jim's wife", but those that knew her well, knew that "Nay Nay" was the name that she treasured most, for it was the name that was given to her by her granddaughter and namesake Emily. When she was not busy being Nay Nay, Jo could be found out and about in the community doing work with the jail ministry, nursing home ministry or simply at the church practicing for the next wedding or funeral she was to play for.
Jo was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on August 27, 1930 to the late Robert and Hazel Curtis Officer. She lived out her childhood and early adulthood in Burkesville where she met and married the love of her life. In 1960 she and her husband Jim moved to Jasper, FL. Mrs. Coe was always a hard worker. Over the years she worked at the Hamilton County Health Dept., Hamilton County Clerk's Office and Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. She was a dedicated member at Jasper First Presbyterian Church where she was church pianist until very recently when her health declined. Jo will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, sister and loving grandmother. Some will remember her piano playing; others will remember her desire to do a good job at work, and some will (lovingly) remember her insatiable appetite!
Survivors include her husband James "Jim" B. Coe, Sr., Jasper, FL.; one son, James "Jim" B. Coe, Jr. and his wife Beth, Flagstaff, AZ.; one daughter, Nancy "Nan" J. Hamm and her husband Tommy, Jennings, FL.; one brother, Robert Officer and his wife Mary, St. Louis, MO.; one sister, Nancy O. Buchanan, Burkesville, KY.; three grandchildren, Emily Murphy and her husband Alex, Tommy Hamm, II and his wife Abby and Lesley Hamm and her fiancé Jason Richard; one great grandson, Brooks Hamm.
