Eunice Claire Bowman Sloat passed away on November 1, 2015. She was born January 12, 1921 in Brewster (Polk County) Florida to Joseph M. and Annie T. Bowman. She was predeceased by her husband Alton D. Sloat, daughter Barbara Sloat Holloway, sisters Ruth Bowman and Hazel Bowman, brothers Clifford Bowman and Robert T. Bowman, and great grandson William Davis Holloway.

Eunice graduated from Brewster High School and attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee FL. She left there and studied medical laboratory and x-ray technology at the Franklin School of Arts and Sciences in Philadelphia PA. She served an internship in Paducah KY and then worked at Bartow General Hospital in Bartow FL. After World War II broke out she enlisted in the WAVES (Women's Navy Reserve). In 1942 she attended boot camp at Oklahoma AandM in Stillwater OK. Eunice was then sent to Washington DC as a teletype operator and was supervisor of communications at the Bureau of Personnel when VJ Day ended the war. She was a war bride having married on March 17, 1945. As a youth she played piano, flute and violin in various bands and orchestras and was later in her church's bell choir. She was a lifetime member of the Mulberry FL chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Jasper FL chapter. Family, friends and church were regular recipients of her gifts of knitting, sewing, and cooking.

Eunice is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Marie (Jacque) Sloat and Sara Ann (Sas) Johnson, a son, Alton D. (Bud) Sloat, Jr. and wife Gail, son-in-law, Dan Holloway, eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren as well as six nieces and nephews and a cousin.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 5 at St. Peter's Anglican Church, 4784 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee.

Family will greet friends afterwards in the parish hall.
