Evelyn Jeannette Mathis, age 71, of White Springs, FL. passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at Shands at U.F. in Gainesville, FL.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Lindsey officiating.

Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery near Jennings, FL.

Mrs. Mathis was born in Pierce County, Georgia on March 9, 1942 to the late L.W. and Eula Greene Beverley. She worked in the restaurant business for many years. Jeannette loved to sing and enjoyed playing bingo when the opportunity presented itself. She attended Long Branch Congregational Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee "Runt" Mathis in 1998.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Beverley of Jacksonville, FL.; two sisters, Lanell Sapp and Mattie Lee Hopkins both of Waycross, GA.; numerous nieces and nephews; caregivers, Barbara Tucker and Crystal Lawson both of Live Oak, FL.
