IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florine Hester
Combass
March 1, 1948 – April 9, 2022
Mabel Florine Hester Combass, age 74, of Jasper, FL. passed away on April 9, 2022 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper following an illness of some time.
Florine was born in Jasper, Florida on March 1, 1948 to the late Eston Dorrell Hester and Virginia Cason Hester. She was a lifetime resident of Hamilton County. She was married to the late Charles Clinton Combass until his death in November of 2017. Florine worked for the Hamilton County School Board for many years as a bookkeeper and secretary to the principal. She worked at Central Elementary School and Hamilton County High School and was loved by all of the students and she loved them. Florine enjoyed playing the piano in her spare time, cooking some of the time, spending time with her grandchildren all of the time and if you invited her to go shopping, she would tell you anytime. To say she enjoyed shopping just might be the understatement of the year. The shopping paid off in the end because when Florine stepped out, she was always dressed beautifully and always coordinated and made sure that the same could be said for her husband, her children and grandchildren. She always joked that she had to keep an eye on Clinton when he dressing to go out because his ability to coordinate was not always the best. Shopping is commonly considered part hobby and part gift and Florine was certainly gifted when it came to style and class always made a handsome couple. Florine was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Lake Park, GA as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Dorrell Combass and his wife Kristi Goolsby Combass of Jasper, FL. and Darren Combass and his wife Michelle Combass of Gainesville, FL.; her sister, Inez Carter of Buford, GA.; and five much loved grandchildren, Mackenzie, Zachary, Alayna, Shelby and Brooke.
