Frances Maureen (Hester) Fourakre begin her journey of life on September 19, 1924 in Hazlehurst, GA. She was the daughter of the late Ivey Doster and Leola (Googe) Hester of Jasper, FL. She married James Riley Fourakre, Sr. on September 6, 1942. In 1947 she lived in Valdosta, GA where she worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company as a bookkeeper and seamstress. In 1955 they moved to Hapeville, GA and then two years later to Hampton, GA where they lived for 56 years. She was a cashier with Big Apple Stores/Food Giant Foods in Hapeville and Atlanta, where she retired.
She enjoyed traveling, fishing and her second home in Steinhatchee, FL.
She is survived by three Sons, James Riley Fourakre Jr, Theron W. Fourakre (Becky) and Kermit Adrian Fourakre (Bonnie); Sister-in-law Lou Bell Hester, of Fargo, GA; 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great, Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, James Riley Fourakre, Sr.; parents, Ivey Doster and Leola Hester of Jasper FL; Sisters and Brothers Eston Hester of Jasper FL, Nolan Hester of Steinhatchee FL, Lothell (Hester) Smith of Lake City FL, Valorie (Hester) Rohe of Garfield AR, and Fernell Hester of Fargo, GA.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 20, 2013 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Hutto officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery near Jennings, FL.
