Frank R. "Butch" Smith, age 65, of White Springs, FL. passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. Interment followed at Swift Creek Cemetery near White Springs.
Butch was born in Miami, FL. on April 3, 1952 to the late Frank and Lois Wheeler Smith. He worked most of his adult life in the construction industry. When Hamilton County was awarded the contract to begin construction on a new work camp, Butch was on board as one of the first graduating class of officers for Hamilton Correctional Institution. He spent nearly three decades working for the State of Florida Corrections Department. When he wasn't working, Butch loved to fish and just enjoyed being outdoors. He was a dedicated father and was a passionate grandfather to his granddaughter Finley Claire Smith. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Phillip Platt and the love of his life Claire DeBono Smith.
Survivors include his son, Dylan Smith; a daughter, Nicole Smith; his brother, Joey Platt; his sister and her husband, Mildred and Tommy Pound; granddaughter, Finley Claire Smith and his father-in-law, Louis DeBono.
