Mr. Fred H. Hillhouse, age 89, of White Springs, FL. passed away in Gainesville, FL. late Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Shands at U.F. following a lengthy illness. Mr. Hillhouse was born in 1920 to the late George and Mollie Thomas Hillhouse and was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County, FL. Over the years he worked on construction jobs and at the Genoa Service Station but he was without a doubt most proud of his farming. Mr. Hillhouse served his country proudly and was a World War II Veteran of the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Mae Hillhouse, his parents, George and Mollie Hillhouse, brothers and sisters, Roy Hillhouse, Bertha Burnham, Hazel Rudd, Nellie Ferguson, Frank Hillhouse and Claude Hillhouse.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Hillhouse (Judy) and Larry Hillhouse (Sheila), all of White Springs, FL.; two daughters, Edna King (Jerry), Lake City, FL. and Ethel McGhin, White Springs, FL.; one brother, Dewey Hillhouse, a sister, Pearl Henderson and a sister-in-law, Estelle Hillhouse; five grandchildren, Amy Greene, Karen Register, Kim Glover, Elizabeth Hillhouse and Sam Hillhouse; five step- grandchildren, Cat Bryan, Melissa Bryan, Amy Bryan, Jennifer Weidemiller, Jason King, Julie Gibson and Jared King; five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, FL.
Interment followed at Swift Creek Cemetery.
