Obituary

On January 16, 2026, the Lord welcomed George Russell Driggers home. George was born on October 7, 1957, to the late L.C. Driggers and Eva Morgan Driggers, the youngest of sixteen children. Being raised in a large family helped shape George’s strong values, his love for family, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life.

George graduated from Hamilton County High School in 1976, where he was active in the FFA and developed a strong work ethic that stayed with him all his life. On September 3, 1983, he married the love of his life, Sandy. Together they shared 41 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, hard work, and family, and raising three children who were his greatest pride.

George worked for Dixie Packers and Driggers and Sons Meat before retiring from Pilgrim’s Pride. He was a provider in every sense of the word and never shied away from doing what needed to be done for his family.

Some of George’s happiest moments were the simple ones: fishing with his son Lance and his grandson Bentley, riding around the family farm, and spending time with the Driggers family he loved so deeply. He didn’t need much to be content, just family, fresh air, and time together.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Scott Driggers; his daughters, Jacquelyn Darr of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Eva Driggers of Lake Park, Georgia; and his son, Lance Driggers of Jasper, Florida. He also leaves behind his beloved grandsons, Ashton Hutchins and Bentley Thorne, who brought him endless joy.

He is also survived by his siblings: Clarie Welch (James, deceased) of Port St. Joe, Florida; Evalee Parker (Jerry, deceased) of Perry, Florida; Bobby Ray Driggers of Wellborn, Florida; Morris Driggers (Ann) of Live Oak, Florida; Mike Driggers (Barbara) of Jasper, Florida; and Ann Jackson of Live Oak, Florida.

George was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Eva Morgan Driggers, and by his siblings: J.W. Driggers, Mildon Driggers, Clarence Driggers (Norma Jean, deceased), Ranel Driggers (Annie Lou, deceased), Wilbur Driggers (Cossette, deceased), Lavon Driggers (Udean), W.J. Driggers, Raymond Driggers, and Jimmy Driggers.

Services will be held on January 21, 2026, at Corinth Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with interment immediately following at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
