Obituary

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Henry Johnson, 78, of Jasper, FL, on January 24, 2025. Born on August 31, 1946, to Willis and Ethel Johnson, George lived a life marked by service, hard work, and love for his family and community.

George proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. After completing his military service, he returned home and established himself as a self-employed plumber, providing services to countless families in Jasper and the surrounding areas. His dedication to his craft earned him the respect and appreciation of his community.

A man of faith, George attended Calvary Baptist Church when he could, finding solace and inspiration in the sermons delivered by Rev. Wendell Hill. In his free time, George enjoyed listening to music and spending peaceful moments fishing, two pastimes that brought him great joy.

George's legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his children, Theresa Johnson of Chipley, FL, Nancy Johnson of Live Oak, FL, Donald Johnson (Beckie) of North Carolina, and Sylvia Tanner (John) of Jasper, FL. He is also survived by his brothers, John Odum of Jasper and Jason Odum (Sabitra) of Atlanta, GA; his sisters, Asonia Odum of Lake City and Lisa Harris (Jesse) of White Springs, FL; as well as ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his son, James Gregory Johnson, and his sister, Judie Dyke.

The family will gather privately to celebrate George's life and honor his memory. His warmth, dedication, and the joy he brought to others will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
